This year the Ursuline College has been very fortunate to have more projects than ever accepted to present at the exhibition in the RDS in January. Six of the seven Sligo projects chosen are from Ursuline College.
They include 5 intermediate projects and 1 senior project, all within the area of Physics or Technology. They include such diverse ideas as a new type of wind turbine harnessing structure (Lucy Morrison, Roma Hynes & Kyra Cawley), an innovative surveillance technique to see sound (Maeve Brogan, Ellen Woodward & Emma Casey), an app to aid hayfever sufferers (Marianne Kelly, Aoife Devlin & Aoife Maher), a portable faraday cage to store batteries and prolong battery life (Hollie Hannon, Lauren French & Alison Roche), a new type of low emission wood stove (Emma McGoldrick, Sarah Flynn & Orla Reilly ) and finally an investigation into the relative perception of different frequency light at varied distances (Elizabeth Bartlett, Nadia Mohamed & Maura Madden).
The students are working very hard on completing their projects and we wish them the best of luck in January.
