The 2017 Irish Schools Interpro took place in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin on Saturday 29th April. Congratulations to Ulster who picked up the top team award and well done to all swimmers who made up the four teams. Connacht finished in third place. Ursuline College were very well represented with three swimmers competing at this major gala. These were Maeve Keaney, Carrie McDaid and Danielle Farrell all three girls performed magnificently. Carrie, Danielle and Maeve all qualified for selection for the Connacht team by finishing in the top two positions when they competed in the Connacht Senior Schools Swimming Championships 2017 in Athlone back in January.

Connacht was very well represented on Saturday with 40 swimmers from 26 schools from across the region taking part. The Interpro Cup, of which Connacht were the proud winners back in 2014, was vigorously defended by the Connacht team but they were unfortunate to be piped in the final relays by Ulster.

The Irish Senior Schools Relay Finals took place on the same day in the National Aquatic Centre. There was one team competing for the Ursuline College, Sligo in the 15-16 year old category. The team comprised Carrie McDaid, Tara Walsh, Maria Lyons and Danielle Farrell. Maria (14) and Danielle (13) were both swimming up an age group. The Ursuline girls finished in 3rd place in both their relays. Competing against eight other schools from throughout Ireland, the Ursuline team claimed bronze in the 200m Medley Relay and also in the 200m Freestyle Relay.

A fantastic achievement – we are very proud of you all.
